SMS has state-of-the-art automated electrostatic Powder Coating in Liverpool. We strive to provide our customers high-quality finishes in the shortest lead times.
We supply products finished in a full range of BS and RAL colours using epoxy polyester and whole polyester powder. Epoxy polyester is used for the internal environment, and complete polyester is used for the external environment. Full/semi-gloss, matt, textures, metallic, heat-resistant, and hammer finishes are often ex-stock and readily available.
If we do not stock a unique or bespoke colour/finish, we can usually obtain it from our approved suppliers. Most paint specifications and accurate colour matching from a customer sample are achievable.
Powder coating is a highly durable and scratch-resistant surface coating. It is pliable but hard enough to withstand impact without scratching, making it the most popular process for finishing metalwork. Our powder is applied using automation and programmable robotic reciprocators that coat the material with the required micron thickness. This quick and easy electrostatic application gives a high-quality finish. The final process is to heat the product between 200ºC and 240ºC to guarantee maximum curing.
Zinc-rich primer is considered one of the most effective anti-corrosive paint systems today. A proven track record that guarantees this application will extend the product’s lifespan.
A top coat finish can be applied with any specific colour/finish over the primer. The thickness of the zinc primer can be used between 10 and 120 microns—the more extraordinary zinc content results in longer corrosion resistance for the finished component. Before powder coating, all materials will undergo a pre-treatment process to give the product a longer life and lower maintenance expectancy.
