SMS recently invested in a new TRUMPF 3000 CNC punching machine with integrated load/unload automation and part picking. A highly advanced solution for sheet metal processing. It combines punching, forming, and automation to streamline our production, and enhance efficiency.
We offer advanced tooling systems capable of producing complex shapes, louvered forms, and thread tapping in a single setup. Automated Sorting and Stacking: The machine is equipped with a part picker or robotic arm that identifies finished parts and separates them from scrap material. Components are picked after processing without damage and stacked neatly. This level of automation is ideal for both small-batch and high-volume production, offering flexibility for various industries.

August 2024 SMS make another Trumpf investment. TRUMPF is the world leader in press brake technology and automation. We are delighted to have purchased only the second machine in the U.K that includes ToolMaster technology. This has revolutionised our company in state-of-the-art bending.
The system has been designed to streamline and optimise the metal bending process. Specialising in advanced manufacturing forming, we invested in Trumpf to improve efficiency, precision, and automation in metal forming.
Automatic Tool Setup: ToolMaster. Automatic tool setting. This reduces setup time significantly compared to manual tool changes, especially for components that require frequent tool changes. An ideal facility for prototyping & sampling. The ToolMaster technology includes a storage magazine for tools, allowing quick and organised access during production. Efficient Production reduces downtime between jobs by automating tool changes.
