Shop floor tablets allow instant access to drawings

Ever since SMS began the manufacturing team have had to utilise filing systems situated on the factory floor to acquire drawings for fabrication processes.

The company had many meetings on how we could make this process much easier for both the operatives and the administration team who kept the system up-to-date.

Rachelle Hughes attended a meeting in March 2014 and suggested that we use tablets with a reasonable size screen that would allow the employees quick access to the current drawings.

After testing many tablets and analysing the feedback from the manufacturing team, we have installed wi-fi extenders and purchased a number of tablets, in turn this has been a great help in reducing down time and efficiency of the shop floor.
